Hermolle Associates were recently featured on a documentary profiling the opening of a popular Blackpool Revue Bar.
The programme excellently highlighted the problems associated with carrying out wholesale structural alterations to an old building within a very tight schedule. The documentary successfully demonstrated the team work and commitment necessary to achieve results in a very short period of time and under pressure
During the severe storms of 1997, fascinating T.V. footage of the destruction of the sea front building was shown. This building housed important electrical equipment for the tram service along the Promenade at Blackpool.
Following this dramatic destruction, the Local Authority appointed Hermolle Associates to construct a new building which was to be of identical appearance to the previous one, but reinforced to withstand the full impact of the wave forces from the Irish Sea.
As the illustration shows, the internal framework is completely masked by the brick clad building, but is in fact a complex steel framed structure anchored to piles which extend well below the height of the sea defence wall.
